John Mateer is an American musician, filmmaker, and entertainment entrepreneur. He grew up in Wantagh, New York. Mateer was an early-era content creator on YouTube in the late 2000s, and his first media appearances resulted from the viral content that he created on the platform. He shifted his focus towards music in the early 2010s, releasing the Love Is Not A Lifestyle EP in the summer of 2011, He's since regretted creating the EP all together, and along with negative reviews from critics, he stopped making music for a decade.
