"It Amazes Me" is the second studio album by American singer and actress Liza Minnelli. It was released in May 1965 by Capitol Records.
Following the success of her first album, titled "Liza! Liza!" in September 1964, Minnelli remained busy with the tour of the off-Broadway musical "The Fantasticks." Additionally, she made television appearances and a series of performances at the London Palladium alongside her mother, singer, and actress Judy Garland. The record label wanted to capitalize on her exposure and record a new album that could match the success of its predecessor.
Recording sessions began in December 1964 and concluded in January 1965. Minnelli worked with the same team that helped her produce and create "Liza! Liza!" at Capitol Records studios in New York, located at 151 West 46th Street. This team included producer Si Rady and arranger and orchestral conductor Peter Matz.
On April 24, Billboard magazine published an announcement by Capitol Records regarding Minnelli's second album, which was to be released under the title "It Amazes Me." The same announcement revealed that its release date would be in May of that year.
Although it was never released individually in CD format, the eleven tracks, in their original order, appeared on two compilations released by Capitol Records: "The Complete Capitol Collection" in 2006, which adopted the original cover of "Liza! Liza!," and "Finest" in 2009. The first compilation mentioned includes a song that was recorded during the "It Amazes Me" sessions but was excluded from the final tracklist: the medley "Walk Right In" / "How Come You Do Me Like You Do."
