After School Session is the debut studio album by rock and roll artist Chuck Berry, released in May 1957 by Chess Records. The album - as well as subsequent Berry albums- was compiled from previously released singles, with the exception of "Roly Poly" and "Berry Pickin'".
The release can be seen as a reaction to a booming market for long-playing albums among teenagers following the rising popularity of rock 'n' roll. Despite the strength of Berry's individual hits, the album failed to enter the Billboard charts. The tracklist did not include some of his biggest hits up to this point, such as "Maybellene" and "Roll Over Beethoven", which would be included in later LP releases.
